By CJP President David Miller
Well, they always say that time flies when you’re having fun (flying a Citation!) and I can say without fear of correction that 2015 has been an extremely active and productive year for Capt. Dave, along with our Chairman Mark Aloe, and other members of your CJP executive team.
Over the past few months, I have been busy visiting with both new and existing CJP Partners who are showing new excitement about our organization. Quite frankly, it’s hard to keep up with all the activity!
Recently, I joined CJP Executive Director Jon “Huggy” Huggins for a day in Wichita, where we toured FlightSafety’s extensive training facilities and had an excellent meeting with their senior staff. One result of this visit was that FlightSafety committed to become a Platinum Level Partner in CJP, an increasing partnership that represents many exciting possibilities for CJP and our Members.
We also recently met with Rockwell Collins, and are pursuing an increased relationship with them as well as other important Partners in our Association. These partnerships will continue to develop along several new and exciting directions, particularly as we look towards our annual gathering in Colorado Springs this month.
While it’s still too soon to definitively say, there are many signs that attendance at our 2015 Convention may exceed all previous years, including last year’s record numbers. In fact, we’ve already sold out of our initial allotment of rooms at The Broadmoor, and are working to secure additional lodging for last-minute registrations.
This definitely demonstrates the high level of interest in this year’s event, where attendees will find it’s well worth coming to Colorado Springs – especially for spouses and significant others – including a few highly-recognizable special guests, and other surprises.
Of course, one of the hotter topics at this year’s Convention will be our new fuel program, CJP FuelAdvantage, which in just a few short months is already off to an impressive start.
I must admit that I had my doubts about just how good the program could be… and, once again, I’ve learned to never underestimate Ed Turley. He has really made CJP FuelAdvantage happen, and thanks to Ed – along with our new program director, Scott Severen – we are truly off to the races.
The response to CJP FuelAdvantage has already exceeded our initial goals, with Member comments overwhelmingly positive. I recently rode in a car with Scott as his cell phone was literally ringing off the hook with FBOs calling to be a part of it; this is simply going to be awesome.
CJP FuelAdvantage also means that Members’ fuel costs at Colorado jetCenter will be the lowest in the history of ANY prior CJP meeting; personally, I’ve already saved several hundreds of dollars – on my first purchase alone!
In short, this is a really great time to own a Citation! And if you haven’t already registered to be a part of the 2015 CJP Convention, listen to your friend Capt. Dave: without question, CJP Members will have much to discuss – and, to celebrate – this year in Colorado Springs. Don’t miss out!
