CJP Sponsors Students to Attend the National Flight Academy
The Citation Jet Pilots Association (CJP) recently sponsored 38 students from Sanford Middle School and three teachers to attend a three-day cruise at the National Flight Academy (NFA) in Pensacola, FL.
The students stayed overnight and were exposed to a variety of concepts including Meteorology, Aerodynamics, Mathematics, Bathymetry, Physics, Basic of Flight, Ballistics and Search and Rescue fundamentals. They also toured the Naval Aviation Museum adjacent to the NFA.
Through an established base of knowledge, the students worked in a team squadron format to collaborate and complete missions. Facilitators and chiefs challenge them to use critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, innovation, teamwork and information gathering as well as communication technology literacy and adaptability. The National Flight Academy builds heart-pumping, adrenaline-filled story lines, which bring life to the mission as if students are in a real-world scenario.
The Sanford students were joined by 45 students and five teachers from Leesburg High School sponsored by CJP Member Bill Bryan, and 15 students and six teachers and community members from Taos, NM sponsored by fellow CJP Member Jim Thompson.
All arrangements were made by the Blue Sky Educational Foundation in Dallas, TX and included meeting with parents and students in each of their schools a month before the event of October 14-16, 2022.
