CEO Update: All About the 2022 Convention and Other Upcoming CJP Events!

I’ve held my role as CJP CEO since June 2021, and I cannot tell you how much impressed I continue to be with all of the CJP Members and Partners. I have countless examples of passionate and fully engaged Members and Partners working together to help each other.

The third quarter of 2022 is full steam ahead. The CJP Staff and I have been hard at work to provide even more value for you!

CJP ANNUAL CONVENTION

Immediately after the October 2021 Annual Convention, the Interaction Committee and CJP Staff, with the support of the CJP Board, have been working daily on tweaks to make this year’s Annual Convention even better than last year!

The Companions Committee, which was created earlier this year, has been working closely with the Textron Aviation Event Planning Team for the Companion activities which include a Celebrity Book Club discussion with Jenna Bush Hager, custom hat shopping at Maufrais, visit to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Companions’ Get-Acquainted Luncheon, Companions’ Lounge and the Textron Aviation party at Fair Market Austin with musical guest Keith Urban.

Did we say Keith Urban?!? YES! Keith Urban will be our entertainment Thursday evening at the Textron Aviation party! Austin is going to be a blast!

With assistance by Collins, Garmin and FlightSafety International, the Companion Ground School will be taught by fellow CJP Members, and plans to utilize Collins and Garmin tabletop trainers/kiosks for hands-on learning.

The JW Marriott in downtown Austin is a leader among the city’s Downtown luxury hotels. The hotel offers luxury comfort and sophisticated amenities. The urban resort features an on-site spa, room service, seven bars, three restaurants, Starbucks® and the largest guest rooms in the city with floor-to-ceiling windows.

On Wednesday afternoon prior to the Convention start, we will host our First Jet Ownership Forum focused on all operational areas of Citation ownership. We have additional space available for any CJP Member who would like to learn more about insurance, maintenance and operating your Citation in the ATC environment.

The Welcome Reception on the JW Marriott Rooftop Pool Deck, which starts Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm Central Time, will be terrific and high energy as we connect and reconnect with CJP friends!  The Rooftop Pool Deck provides a beautiful view of downtown Austin.

The Convention will start on Thursday morning with safety discussions including “The Quest for Safety” and the latest on the CJP Safe to Land^sm Initiative by Charlie Precourt (CJP Safety Committee Chair), Richard Meikle (FlightSafety International) and Rob Switz (NetJets).

Additionally, Peter Basille from Textron Aviation will provide his annual accident review and thorough analysis which is always educational and enlightening. Charlie will discuss the CJP FOQA rollout and how it benefits all CJP Members.

On Thursday afternoon, Charlie and FlightSafety Instructors will provide a Safe to Land^sm Ground School certification class. CJP Member and Advocacy Committee Member Bryan Currier will moderate “Owner to Owner,” a panel discussion sure to be of interest to any Member thinking about their next Citation.

Friday morning, Textron Aviation CEO Ron Draper and Executives will provide their annual update. If you haven’t seen the recent interview of Ron by CJP Director of Programs and Safety Education David Miller, be sure to click here.

Rob Scholl, President and CEO of Textron’s eAviation division that is focused on sustainable flying, will discuss “The Future of eAviation.” Executives from Collins, Garmin, FlightSafety International and Tamarack will provide their Platinum Partner updates.

CJP Director John Springthorpe and CJP Aviation Community Services (formerly Philanthropy) Chair Larry King will provide a presentation on their Around the World trip and considerations for international travels in Citations.

On Friday afternoon, we will have our Citation model-specific breakout sessions with speakers from Textron Aviation, Collins, Garmin, Williams, P&W Canada, etc. For the Friday evening dinner and auction, we will have a celebrity auctioneer Harry Santa-Olalla who cannot be missed!

In years past, we had the Friday evening dinner, auction and then entertainment. This year, we moved entertainment to Thursday evening so Friday evening will not be rushed. It’ll be a spectacular evening together!

On Saturday morning, we will present the world premiere of the 2022 “What Good Looks Like” videos! CJP Safety Consultant Neil Singer will provide his presentation on Proper and Practical Performance Planning. We will conclude with our CJP Annual Meeting.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The next CJP Member dinner will take place on September 22 at Endre Holen and Stephanie Goetz’s hangar in Las Vegas, NV.

This summer’s Owner Member dinners in mid-July at Stuart Fred’s hangar at Ellington, TX; in late-July at AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI; and in August at Gary Roberts & Peter Doyle’s hangars at Bozeman, MT were ALL fantastic successes!
