Chairman’s Message: Committee Members Wanted to Help Lead CJP Forward
by CJP Chair Randy Broiles
CJP Members & Friends,
Many of you know that a vast amount of CJP work is completed in our committees. We continue to welcome diverse committee volunteers who have the time and energy to participate. Thanks to those who are already serving and to those who have expressed interest in serving CJP in the future. As a reminder, the board strongly supports using these committees to identify future board candidates. Let Trent, me or any of the directors know if you are interested in actively serving CJP on a committee.
Here are a few updates on three of our four key CJP priorities.
Safety
Sincere thanks to our owner members who have already completed the Presage Go Around study as well as to those members who have agreed to participate in an upcoming workshop at the FlightSafety Learning Facility in Wichita with Presage and the CJP Safety Committee. This work could provide significant learnings for us as we continue to work toward eliminating runway overruns and incidents.
You should have received the annual CJP Gold Standard Safety Award guidance and application due on August 20. We’ve had four years of consecutive award growth and I’m confident we’ll see another record year.
My wife, Cindy, completed her second Companion Training session with FlightSafety Textron Aviation Training in San Antonio, TX a few days ago while I was there for my recurrency training. Her first FlightSafety session was completed in Wichita. We’re both big advocates of this recent training module. Cindy couldn’t have been happier with her instructors and with the quality of the ground school and simulator training at both FlightSafety locations. You or your companion are most welcome to contact me or Cindy directly if you have questions at cinbroiles@aol.com.
Interaction
The Santa Fe Regional Event in June was terrific! Charlie Precourt led his thoughtful safety presentation on learnings from the space shuttle and David Miller led his timely presentation on dealing with pressurization emergencies. Our local FBO, Jet Center of Santa Fe, and Platinum Plus partner Textron Aviation were gracious hosts. Textron Aviation and our Platinum partners – including FlightSafety, Garmin, Collins Aerospace and Tamarack Aerospace – provided timely, encouraging updates on their products and services. Presentations that were delivered at the Regional Event are available at www.citationjetpilots.com under Events > 2021 Regional Events > Santa Fe, NM.
Detailed planning for our annual convention in Indian Wells, CA has ramped up and is progressing nicely. The board is thrilled with our early paid registrations of nearly 140. This convention has the potential to be our best yet with our in-depth safety stand down, model specific O&M breakouts, a reception and dinner at the Palm Springs Air Museum and another cool, live concert, both hosted by Textron Aviation. Don’t miss it!
The board is also excited to announce that we have a new winery partner. Amulet Estate is among our newest Silver partners. They are working with our convention planners to offer tastings of a few of their delicious products during our convention as well as provide a very cool Napa Valley auction item. Cindy and I recently visited their winery and found them to be knowledgeable, gracious hosts who are driven to produce small quantities of exceptional wines. Expect to have other opportunities to get to know Amulet Estates over the coming months. We expect Amulet to play an important role in our next Napa/Sonoma Regional event in 2022.
Philanthropy
Please consider providing air transportation to and from the Textron Aviation-sponsored Special Olympics in 2022. We’re hoping that CJP owner members will volunteer 100+ aircraft. Arrival date at Florida’s Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) is June 4 with return on June 12 or 13. Sincere thanks to those generous CJP members who’ve participated in the past. We continue to hear consistently rich, rewarding experiences from pilots who’ve donated their time, aircraft and fuel toward this worthy cause. Textron Aviation will be coordinating aircraft and locations to streamline the arrivals and departure process through Atlantic Aviation. Expect to see more details soon.
Fly safely and see you soon!
