CEO Update: New Year Brings Added Growth for CJP

The first quarter of 2022 is already in the books and CJP has been hard at work to serve you! As soon as the 2021 Annual Convention was complete, the CJP Board and Staff were already at work on tweaks to make the 2022 Annual Convention even better. We are excited about many targeted areas.  The 2022 CJP Annual Convention will be October 26-29 in Austin, TX, so block the dates in your calendar now!

In late January, we held our first CJP member dinner of 2022 at Banyan Air Service FBO at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE).  Even with heavy rain during the evening, all attendees had a great time making new friends and seeing old friends in the hangar, as well as touring the fantastic Banyan pilot shop. Be sure to put Banyan on your list next time you are headed to South Florida!

In late January and early February, the CJP Board held its quarterly meeting, where we reviewed 2021 results and discussed 2022 initiatives. We are very excited about this year in making gains in numerous areas.

Also in early February, NBAA hosted its Leadership Conference. Prior to this conference, Andrew Broom and the NBAA staff organized the inaugural meeting of the Owner Pilot Association Coalition. In addition to CJP, other OPAs on the coalition include the TBM Owners and Pilots Association (TBMOPA), Embraer Jet Operators Association (EJOA), Malibu M-Class Owners & Pilots Association (MMOPA) and Cirrus Vision Pilots and Owners.

Overall, many of the OPAs are dealing with similar issues confronting CJP. The OPA Coalition continues to work together by sharing best practices and lessons learned and plans to meet again at EAA AirVenture this summer.

Within the CJP Safety Committee, we are making great strides in the Safe to Land, FOQA and Legacy Subcommittees that will addressed in the next issue of CJP’s “Right Seat” newsletter. The “What Good Look Like” Videos for the 2022 Convention will be recorded soon. Also, be sure to review the criteria for the Gold Standard Safety Award:

The Membership & Marketing Committee chaired by Marc Dulude has been focused this quarter on our marketing and targeting efforts; we are ensuring that we have a consistent message and are targeting correctly. Also of note, David Miller recently presented at the SMU Air Law Symposium in Dallas, TX and we are excited about the potential gains as we continue the conversation with influential attendees.

During the last week of March, we had our first 2022 CJP Regional Event in beautiful Deer Valley, UT.  We had a great turnout who enjoyed the skiing and the camaraderie. Be sure to read the full recap in this issue of “Flight Levels.”

The next CJP Regional Event will be May 24-27 in California Wine Country.  Sonoma Jet Center in Santa Rosa, CA will be the host FBO. Registration will open very soon; registration for this Regional Event fills up quickly so don’t delay to secure your spot!  This will be another fun event enjoying our time together in Wine Country!

With CJP membership doubling over the past five years, and with a number of increasingly important and complex member benefits available, volunteerism cannot consistently deliver the high-quality services needed or expected by members. Additional staff becomes very important to ensure service and benefit performance sustainability – especially as, given recent member feedback, 30% of our members are requesting more activities and additional auction items!

On that note, I am pleased to introduce CJP’s newest employee, Liz Nixon! She is our Special Projects Manager and has many years of event experience at Energy One Federal Credit Union and Holiday Inn Club Vacations.

Liz has already hit the road running on CJP Member Dinners, social media branding, graphic design and CJP website updates. She will be focusing on CJP event planning/coordination (working in concert with our contract convention coordinators), fundraising, coordinate FOQA program administration, and additional support staff to CEO and COO. We are thrilled to have her onboard!
