For 2015, CJP and the Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation expanded the Bob Hoover Presidential Scholarship program to award academic scholarships to four Embry-Riddle students: Dakota Foster, Anna Robinson, Achyut Nair, and Robert Morgan. Over the holidays, Dakota and Achyut updated CJP about some impressive steps they’ve taken in their budding aviation careers – Ed.

Achyut Nair: School is going well. I was recently elected as President of FLAP [Flight Line Assimilation Program], our mentorship program where we work with new pilots to ease their transition into college and flying. I am looking forward to dealing with the challenges of being the head of the organization.

My flying is also going well. I am continuously improving my flying abilities and am working on my Commercial Single. I am close to earning my Commercial license. I earned my Ground Instructor’s Certificate, and plan on working as a tutor in the upcoming months.

The CJP scholarship gave me opportunities to interact with many aviators and flying legends. The CJP Annual event offered me insights into the aviation industry. All these event have cumulatively expanded my knowledge in the field of aviation.

Dakota Foster: As for me, I am now in the process of moving to Chicago. I have accepted a spring internship with United for the Flight Operations position in Willis Tower HQ! I’m very excited to move to a big city and to be working with United.

Originally I was on track to graduate in December of 2016, however, now that I have accepted this position, I will be graduating in spring of 2017. It’s exciting and a little overwhelming to realize I will be graduating so soon!

I’m hoping that my internship will help me to put a foot in the door so that way when I have my hours, I can zip up through the airlines and be on my way to becoming a captain!
