By CJP President David Miller

CJP-David-Miller-SG-HeadshotIt goes without saying that I consider it a great honor to be elected as CJP president… and Captain Dave is excited too!

On a more serious note, my involvement in CJP from the early stages, as well as my expanding role within the group, makes me truly appreciate the efforts our members have put into our Association.

Without question, these efforts have made CJP a truly remarkable place to be. In a few short years, we have garnered respect throughout the industry, and today CJP is viewed by many as a positive force and a successful model for other owner-groups to emulate.

As we enter a new year, it is worth noting how our Association continues to grow and evolve.

For example, we have increased our charitable activities commitment fourfold over the last couple of years. The Russ Meyer Citation Library will be introduced formally later this year, and I expect our Annual Convention at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, from Sept. 9-13, will be biggest and best we have ever had.

We are also actively working with Cessna and avionics manufacturers to address our Members’ concerns about the upcoming 2020 mandate from the FAA to equip our Citations with automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities.

CJP has a unique and valuable role in representing hundreds of owners of legacy aircraft, and to that end, we have formed several committees of the Board to address these issues and report to the Membership.

Furthermore, our fruitful relationships with third party OEMs such as Garmin, Rockwell Collins, and Bendix-King make it a natural fit that we lead the process of encouraging industry-driven dialogue. I’m excited to see these groups at the same table to discuss economical and effective Nextgen solutions and to tailor these solutions based on the direct input from our members.

All of these efforts are underway while Col. Jon Huggins settles into his role as Executive Director, becoming the foremost spokesperson for CJP. Col. Huggins has had a great first few months with our Association, and it is clear that his decision to join our group has been a good one.

That’s just the stuff I can talk about! Other exciting developments are in the works and we look forward to announcing them in the year ahead. It is truly exciting for me, and a tremendous honor, to be in this position with CJP.

It’s going to be an exciting year.
